Having been taken to Paxos by my parents as a small child it has always provided a benchmark to measure holiday destinations against, so it was my first suggestion when Olga and I were thinking of a place to get married.
We took a fact finding holiday last September to determine whether it had retained its unspoilt charm in the 23 years since I’d last been there, which it passed with flying colours. Happily Olga fell in love with it too. We’d found Paxos Weddings online before coming over, and in between enjoying the island we were shown some different ideas for the day.
Over the winter Sam and Stu took care of all the organising and left the decisions to us. Their contacts around the island are excellent and they are obviously popular guys (as you’ll see if you spend any time with them on Paxos - it’s hard to hold a conversation without getting interrupted by people saying hi), and this is a big advantage as they always seemed able to call a favour in if necessary.
May came around and we spent a fantastic holiday with friends and family, before our wonderful wedding day. We were married in the civil hall on the harbour in Gaios, took a boat trip to the south of the island, then reconvened in the evening at our villa for a great dinner and a terrific party. Despite a few damp days in the preceding week we had perfect weather, and everything went without a hitch. What a day.
Without Sam and Stu our wedding would not have been possible, and I can heartily recommend both their service, and getting hitched on Paxos. It is a beautiful place with welcoming people and your family and pals will thank you for introducing it to them (ours have).
We will be back!
